In the fast pace of the web world you can’t afford to ignore any single technique that will ensure visitors to your blog. The trends of leaving your bookmarks on social bookmarking sites are not very common.

Even though, there aren’t many such sites and social bookmarking is not a wildly practiced method, it sure lets you have some volume of traffic which will count a lot with the search engines. However, social bookmarking sites are getting popular at a steady pace and it is always better to be with the early birds to reap the benefits at a later stage.

Displaying the bookmarks of your blogs on these sites will give you the same advantages as placing them on any other directory. Quality traffic! As I had mentioned earlier, the trend is picking up, but at a snail’s pace. This in effect means that the numbers of social bookmarking sites are also much less in comparison to other directories that can be classified to a particular group.

The minority nature of these sites will naturally have an impact on the results for your submissions. It takes more time to bring in results than submitting to other forms of web directories like a blog or an e-com site. But the targeted audience may be unique being in a minority who might not have had an opportunity to come to know of your blog from other sources.

Social bookmarking sites lack some of the features that you have enjoyed on other websites. You cannot identify your visitors. And mind you, there is a marked difference between social book marking sites and social networking sites like facebook or twitter. Here you will not be able to get acquainted with users.

There is a simple enough reason why they are not in very popular use by SEOs. Since the concept is only catching up, there are only very few such sites. But do not let their sheer numbers or the lack of it give you an eye wash. There are over a dozen social bookmarking sites that are in great demand.

Of course, as is in the case of any other web page, you need to adhere to their norms for placing the bookmarks of your blog. There is no unique parameter to be kept in mind for the submission. Each has its own guidelines which are simple enough to be followed to the letter and submit your bookmark successfully.
