"Kopi bersifat diuretik yang bisa menyebabkan dehidrasi karena memicu Anda untuk banyak mengeluarkan jumlah urin, sehingga mengakibatkan tubuh kehilangan banyak cairan," kata Amy Gross, MPH, RD, CDN, pakar diet klinis di New York Presbyterian Hospital. Namun, sebenarnya Anda tidak akan mengalami dehidrasi hanya dengan mengonsumsi kafein, bila mengonsumsinya tidak lebih dari 500 mg/hari. Jadi batasi konsumsi kopi, maksimal dua gelas per hari.

4. Selalu Gelisah
Tangan berkeringat, jantung berdebar-debar disertai perasaan gelisah adalah petunjuk bahwa Anda telah overdosis kafein. Kafein dapat memperburuk stres dan depresi karena mengganggu zat penenang kimia pada otak yang disebut adenosin. 6. Berhalusinasi

Sebuah penelitian di Inggris menyatakan bahwa orang yang minum kopi instan lebih dari 7 cangkir sehari mempunyai kemungkinan 3 kali lebih besar untuk berhalusinasi.

7. Sakit Kepala
Beberapa jenis obat sakit kepala menggunakan campuran kafein karena dalam jumlah sedikit senyawa ini memang memiliki khasiat anti nyeri. Namun efek sebaliknya bisa muncul jika dikonsumsi terlalu banyak, misalnya minum lebih dari 2-3 cangkir kopi espresso atau 5-6 cangkir kopi biasa setiap hari.

8. Insomnia
Efek samping paling umum dari minum kopi terlalu banyak adalah tidak bisa tidur. Bagi remaja atau orang paruh baya, efek ini mungkin hanya akan memicu rasa lelah namun bisa berdampak serius bagi kesehatan kaum lanjut usia.

9. Keringatan
Kopi meningkatkan produksi keringat dengan dua cara. Pertama, kafein merangsang sistem saraf pusat, yang mengaktifkan kelenjar keringat. Sehingga, makin tinggi kandungan kafein, makin banyak keringat yang diproduksi.
