Greyfriars Bobby
Greyfriars Bobby adalah anjing yang menjadi terkenal setelah tuannya meninggal. John Gray meninggal pada 8 Februari 1858 di Edinburgh, Skotlandia, tidak meninggalkan apa-apa kecuali seekor anjing kecil Skye terrier bernama Bobby. Sehari setelah pemakaman, kurator melihat Bobby berbaring di gundukan tanah segar. Dia segera mengusir anjing kecil itu, tapi keesokan harinya ia kembali. Sekali lagi, kurator mengusirnya, tetapi pada hari ketiga-meskipun dingin dan hujan-Bobby sudah kembali. Akhirnya, kurator kasihan pada anjing miskin itu dan membiarkan dia tinggal. Akhirnya ia kemudian dikenal sebagai Greyfriars Bobby, anjing penjaga yang setia di mana majikannya dimakamkan.
Selama empat belas tahun, Bobby tetap setia menjaga dan mengawasi makam pemiliknya, ia jarang meninggalkan makam tuannya kecuali untuk mengambil makan siang tepat pada pukul satu.
Ketika ia meninggal, ia dimakamkan persis di gerbang di Greyfriars Kirkyard.  Di batu nisannya tertulis, "Greyfriars Bobby - meninggal 14 Januari 1872 - berusia 16 tahun - Biarlah kesetiaan dan pengabdian menjadi pelajaran bagi kita semua."
Greyfriars Bobby telah pergi selamanya, tetapi dia tidak dilupakan. Tak lama setelah kematiannya, sebuah patung dibangun untuk menghormatinya. Kisah anjing ini muncul dalam versi fiksi  yang diterbitkan dalam sebuah buku berjudul Greyfriars Bobby oleh Eleanor Atkinson. Pada tahun 1961, buku itu dibuat menjadi sebuah film berjudul Greyfriars Bobby: The True Story of a Dog. Film lain yang dirilis pada tahun 2006 berjudul The Adventures of Greyfriars Bobby dan dibintangi oleh Oliver Golding dan Christopher Lee. 

Hachiko
Hachiko (juga dieja Hachik?) adalah anjing jantan jenis Akita yang dibawa ke Tokyo oleh pemiliknya  Hidesaburo Ueno. Ueno adalah seorang profesor di Universitas Tokyo. Setiap pagi, Ueno mengajak Hachiko untuk ikut mengantar dia naik kereta api dan sorenya anjing ini akan menunggu Ueno kembali di dekat stasiun kereta api Shibuya. Ueno meninggal karena stroke pada bulan Mei 1925, tetapi itu tidak menghentikan Hachiko untuk menantikan tuannya pulang. Dia kembali ke stasiun kereta api terus-menerus selama kurang lebih sebelas tahun, dengan sabar menunggu tuannya kembali.
Sekitar setahun setelah kematian Ueno, salah satu mantan siswa Ueno melihat Hachiko menunggu seperti biasanya dan, setelah mengikuti Hachiko pulang, ia belajar tentang anjing yang luar biasa ini. Siswa ini menulis dan menerbitkan beberapa artikel tentang kesetiaan Hachiko yang menakjubkan terhadap pemiliknya. Akhirnya, surat kabar nasional mengangkat kisah tersebut dan Hachiko segera menjadi terkenal. Dia juga mendapat julukan "Chu-ken Hachiko" atau "Hachiko anjing yang setia."
Pada tahun 1934, seorang seniman mendirikan patung Hachiko di Shibuya Stasiun, dan Hachiko hadir untuk peresmian patung ini. Patung ini didaur ulang selama Perang Dunia II, tetapi kemudian dibuat lagi oleh anak dari seniman pembuat patung Hachiko yang pertama pada tahun 1948. Patung Hachiko yang lain berdiri di kota kelahirannya di depan Stasiun Odate dan patung ketiga telah didirikan di depan Museum Akita di Odate.
Hachiko akhirnya meninggal pada tahun 1935. Jenazahnya telah diawetkan dan disimpan di National Science Museum di Ueno, Tokyo. Kisah hachiko diangkat kembali ke layar lebar dengan dibintangi aktor Amerika Richard Gere.
Old Shep
Shep adalah border collie yang mengikuti tuannya tercinta ke mana-mana. Ketika tuannya meninggal pada tahun 1936, Shep mengikuti peti mati tuannya ke stasiun kereta api di Fort Benton, Montana. Ketika mereka menolaknya untuk ikut dalam kereta, Shep menunggu di halaman stasiun dan menunggu tuannya kembali. Selama enam tahun, Shep memeriksa setiap kereta yang tiba di stasiun untukmengecek apakah tuannya telah kembali. Tragisnya, Shep ditabrak oleh kereta api yang lewat pada tahun 1942. Ceritanya itu diabadikan dalam sebuah buku berjudul Forever Faithful-the Story of Shep. Untuk mengenang kesetiaan anjing ini, dibangunlah patung perunggu besar untuk dirinya di sebuah taman kecil di dekat sebuah sungai. Di tugunya ada prasasti kecil dengan tulisan "Forever Faithful".

Dahulu di sebuah kota di Madura, ada seorang nenek tua penjual bunga cempaka.
Ia menjual bunganya di pasar, berjalan kaki cukup jauh.

Usai jualan, ia pergi ke masjid Agung di kota itu.
Ia berwudhu, masuk masjid, dan melakukan salat Zhuhur.
Setelah membaca wirid sekedarnya, ia keluar masjid dan membungkuk-bungkuk di halaman masjid.
Ia mengumpulkan dedaunan yang berceceran di halaman masjid.

Selembar demi selembar dikaisnya.
Tidak satu lembar pun ia lewatkan.
Tentu saja agak lama ia membersihkan halaman masjid dengan cara itu.

Padahal matahari Madura di siang hari sungguh menyengat.
Keringatnya membasahi seluruh tubuhnya.
Banyak pengunjung masjid jatuh iba kepadanya.

Pada suatu hari Takmir masjid memutuskan untuk membersihkan dedaunan itu sebelum perempuan tua itu datang.

Pada hari itu, ia datang dan langsung masuk masjid.
Usai salat, ketika ia ingin melakukan pekerjaan rutinnya, ia terkejut.

Tidak ada satu pun daun terserak di situ.

Ia kembali lagi ke masjid dan menangis dengan keras.

Ia mempertanyakan mengapa daun-daun itu sudah disapukan sebelum kedatangannya. Orang-orang menjelaskan bahwa mereka kasihan kepadanya.

"Jika kalian kasihan kepadaku," kata nenek itu, "Berikan kesempatan kepadaku untuk membersihkannya."

Singkat cerita, nenek itu dibiarkan mengumpulkan dedaunan itu seperti biasa.

Seorang kiai terhormat diminta untuk menanyakan kepada perempuan itu mengapa ia begitu bersemangat membersihkan dedaunan itu.

Perempuan tua itu mau menjelaskan sebabnya dengan dua syarat, pertama, hanya Kiai yang mendengarkan rahasianya, kedua, rahasia itu tidak boleh disebarkan ketika ia masih hidup.

Sekarang ia sudah meniggal dunia, dan Anda dapat mendengarkan rahasia itu.

"Saya ini perempuan bodoh, pak Kiai," tuturnya.
"Saya tahu amal-amal saya yang kecil itu mungkin juga tidak benar saya jalankan. Saya tidak mungkin selamat pada hari akhir tanpa syafaat Kanjeng Nabi Muhammad saw.

Setiap kali saya mengambil selembar daun, saya ucapkan satu shalawat kepada Rasulullah. Kelak jika saya mati, saya ingin Kanjeng Nabi
menjemput saya.
Biarlah semua daun itu bersaksi bahwa saya membacakan shalawat kepadanya."

Perempuan tua dari kampung itu bukan saja mengungkapkan cinta Rasul dalam bentuknya yang tulus.
Ia juga menunjukkan kerendahan hati, kehinaan diri, dan keterbatasan amal dihadapan Allah swt.
Lebih dari itu, ia juga memiliki kesadaran spiritual yang tinggi.
Ia tidak dapat mengandalkan amalnya.

Ia sangat bergantung pada rahmat Allah.
